Privacy
You can use everything on this site without an account, and we keep nothing about you on our servers when you do. The bar you tick in the matcher lives in your own browser, not with us.
If you create an account
An account is an email address and a password. We ask for nothing else: no name, no birthday, no address. With it we store, on your behalf:
- your saved bar (the bottles you tick),
- your favourite recipes,
- the private notes you write on recipes (only you can ever read them),
- your star ratings (shown to others only as an average, once a recipe has enough of them, never with your name).
We store this because you asked for an account that remembers it. That is the legal basis: the agreement between you and us.
Cookies and statistics
When you are signed in, one cookie keeps you signed in. It is not used for anything else. There are no advertising cookies on this site, and we never sell or share data for advertising.
Google Analytics runs only if you allow it in the banner. It then sets cookies (named _ga) that tell your visits apart over time, so we can see how people find the recipes and come back to them. Google processes this data for us and may transfer it to the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We switch off Google's advertising features and signals, and the data is never used for ads.
Your answer is kept in your browser for twelve months, then we ask again. You can change it at any time under “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page; saying no removes the Google Analytics cookies. We never measure the account, sign-in and My bar pages.
We email you to confirm your address, to reset your password, and to confirm deletion if you ask for it. No newsletter, no marketing, unless you one day opt in yourself.
Your rights
On your account page you can download everything we hold about you as one file, and you can delete your account. Deletion is immediate and complete: the account, the bar, favourites, notes and ratings go at once. You can also ask us to correct anything; write to [email protected].
Where the data lives
On servers in the European Union, with the hosting provider and the email provider named here once they are chosen. (Placeholders until launch: hosting provider, region, email provider.) Nobody else receives your account data.
How long
Until you delete the account. An account that has not been used for three years may be deleted after we have written to you about it.
