Blood Orange Margarita
A sweet-tart Margarita with juicy blood orange and fresh lime, shaken to frosty perfection.

Ingredients
- Blanco tequila60 ml
- Cointreau15 ml
- Blood orange juice, freshly squeezed 45 ml
- Lime juice, freshly squeezed30 ml
- Simple syrup (1 part Sugar, 1 part Water)15 ml
- Salt, to rim the glass (optional)1 pinch
- Orange, blood orange slice, for garnish (optional)1 wheel
- Lime, lime slice, for garnish (optional)1 wheel
Method
- Moisten the rim with a lime wedge and dip it in salt, if you would like to rim the glass.
- Fill a shaker with ice cubes.
- Pour the tequila, blood orange juice, lime juice, Cointreau and syrup into the shaker.
- Shake hard for 15–30 seconds, until the shaker is ice-cold on the outside.
- Strain the chilled cocktail into the prepared glass with fresh ice.
- Garnish with a slice of blood orange and lime.
About this drink
The Margarita has roots in 1930s Mexico and is one of the world’s best-loved tequila cocktails. Blood orange brings a deeper, more wine-like sweetness and a beautiful ruby-red colour, making it perfect for winter citrus season.
