Vodka Cranberry (Cape Cod)
A fresh, tart vodka drink with sweetened cranberry juice and a hint of lime.
Ingredients
- Vodka45 ml
- Lime juice, freshly squeezed12 ml
- Cranberry juice, sweetened135 ml
- Lime, to garnish (optional)1 wedge
- Rosemary, to garnish (optional)1 sprig
Method
- Fill a chilled highball glass with ice cubes.
- Pour the vodka and fresh lime juice over the ice.
- Add the sweetened cranberry juice.
- Stir gently with a bar spoon for a few seconds, until cold and mixed.
- Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of rosemary, if you want an aromatic twist.
About this drink
The Cape Codder has roots in 1940s Massachusetts, where the cranberry grower Ocean Spray promoted the drink as a simple way to use its tart juice. It became a fixture of American bars, where the easy balance of vodka, sweetness and acidity made it a classic that never goes out of fashion. Today it is enjoyed as often on a summer terrace as at a busy bar, a symbol of effortless refreshment.
