About this drink
Planter's Punch comes from the Jamaican sugar plantations of the 1800s, where rum was cheap and plentiful. The famous rule of thumb, 'one of sour, two of sweet, three of strong, four of weak', has followed the drink ever since it was first written down. Recipes vary widely today, but dark rum, citrus and a dash of Angostura are still the core.
