Sex on the Beach
A sunny highball of vodka, peach, orange and cranberry in a striking play of colour.
Ingredients
- Vodka45 ml
- Peach liqueur, for extra sweetness22 ml
- Orange juice, ideally freshly squeezed45 ml
- Cranberry juice45 ml
- Orange, to garnish (optional)1 wheel
- Cocktail cherry, to garnish (optional)1 whole
Method
- Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
- Pour the vodka, peach liqueur, orange juice and cranberry juice into a shaker with ice.
- Shake hard for 10–12 seconds, until the shaker is ice cold on the outside.
- Strain over fresh ice in the prepared glass.
- Garnish with half an orange wheel and a cocktail cherry.
About this drink
Sex on the Beach emerged in Florida in the 1980s, reportedly as part of a marketing push for peach schnapps. The name captures the mood of Florida's party-loving beach bars, and the drink soon became a classic worldwide. Countless variations exist today, but the original balance of sweet, tart and fruity is still its trademark.
