About CocktailsCompass

Hi, I’m Sebastian – the maker of this site.

CocktailsCompass started with a simple question: what cocktails can I make with the ingredients I already have at home? When I searched online, I was frustrated by the cluttered design, intrusive pop-ups, and endless ads on most recipe sites. Some were so overloaded I couldn’t even read the recipes.

So I decided to build something different. CocktailsCompass is designed to be clean, ad-free, and easy to use. You won’t find affiliate links, forced sign-ups, or hidden paywalls here. If you create a free user account, it’s only so you can save your own bar setup and unlock a few helpful features.

This is a passion project, not a business. I have a day job. I don’t sell anything here. I simply love cocktails and wanted to create a space where others can enjoy discovering them too. Through the newsletter, I share recipes, techniques, and lessons from my own cocktail journey.

My hope is that CocktailsCompass becomes your go-to place for exploring and building your cocktail repertoire. New recipes are added weekly, and I’d love to hear your feedback or just a quick hello, feel free to reach out using the form below.

Cheers,
Sebastian

Cocktail Difficulty Levels

We’ve added a difficulty rating to every cocktail so you’ll know what to expect before you start mixing. It’s not about being “hard” or “easy” in the strict sense—it’s about how much preparation, skill, and hunting for ingredients you’ll need.

  • Beginner – Quick builds or simple shakes with common ingredients you’ll likely already have at home. Perfect for beginners or a casual evening.

  • Intermediate – A bit more technique (stirring, shaking, muddling, layering) and a few extra ingredients. You might need to buy one or two bottles or garnishes you don’t already stock.

  • Advanced – Multiple steps, specialty techniques (infusions, syrups, foams), or rare ingredients. These drinks take more effort and planning, but reward you with something truly impressive.

The rating is based on things like the number of ingredients, how rare they are, and the skills needed to bring the cocktail together.
