Tips & Notes

  • Shake the spirits vigorously to ensure proper chilling and dilution - the outside of the shaker should feel cold to the touch.

  • Use fresh ice for serving to prevent over-dilution and maintain the drink's vibrant appearance.

  • Pour the soda slowly to preserve carbonation and prevent the drink from becoming flat.

  • For parties, multiply the recipe and mix in a pitcher, adding soda just before serving to maintain fizz.

  • Serve immediately after preparation to enjoy the best carbonation and visual appeal.

Yes, substitute the lemon-lime soda with club soda or reduce the amount of peach schnapps to 20ml for a less sweet version.

Absolutely! White rum works well as a substitute for vodka and adds a slightly different flavor profile while maintaining the drink’s character.

Multiply the spirit ingredients by the number of servings needed and mix in a large pitcher. Add ice and soda just before serving to maintain carbonation.

Sex in the Driveway uses blue curaçao instead of cranberry juice, creating a blue color instead of pink/red, and uses lemon-lime soda instead of pineapple juice as the mixer.

Cocktail Difficulty Levels

We’ve added a difficulty rating to every cocktail so you’ll know what to expect before you start mixing. It’s not about being “hard” or “easy” in the strict sense—it’s about how much preparation, skill, and hunting for ingredients you’ll need.

  • Beginner – Quick builds or simple shakes with common ingredients you’ll likely already have at home. Perfect for beginners or a casual evening.

  • Intermediate – A bit more technique (stirring, shaking, muddling, layering) and a few extra ingredients. You might need to buy one or two bottles or garnishes you don’t already stock.

  • Advanced – Multiple steps, specialty techniques (infusions, syrups, foams), or rare ingredients. These drinks take more effort and planning, but reward you with something truly impressive.

The rating is based on things like the number of ingredients, how rare they are, and the skills needed to bring the cocktail together.
